Technologies
Bond Technologies produces equipment that uses frictional heat to process or join a variety of metals. These processes share low residual stress, fine microstructure, and other desirable properties. These processes are beneficial in eliminating the need for filler metal and shielding gas in many cases.
Applications
Friction stir welding has been effectively used in many industries including Shipbuilding, Aerospace, and Automotive. Refill friction stir spot welding is especially useful as an alternative to resistance spot welding and rivets. Friction extrusion is an exciting and relatively new process for producing materials and shapes with Novel Properties.

Machines, Tools, and Accessories
Bond Technologies offers a full line of Friction Stir Welding (FSW) products from compact machines up to large scale, multi-axis, multi-spindle systems. Our machines offer high stiffness and high versatility in a variety of frame types. Bond also manufactures the world’s best Refill Friction Stir Spot Welding (RFSSW) system, which can be used in a variety of applications. Friction Extrusion (FE) is new to the Bond product offering and is actively used by research institutions to develop new ways to exploit the unique characteristics of friction-based, solid-state processing of metals. Bond’s Additive Friction Stir Deposition (AFSD) systems are becoming an important part of high deposition rate metal 3D printing.
