What is a Friction Stir Welding Tool?

Home Faq What is a Friction Stir Welding Tool?

A friction stir welding (FSW) tool is a non-consumable, rotating tool with a probe and a shoulder that generates heat and mechanically mixes materials to create a solid-state weld. The spinning probe stirs and mixes the softened material, while the shoulder applies pressure to contain the plasticized metal and complete the weld, without melting the base materials.
