Bond’s LS Series is the optimum Friction Stir Welding solution for welding long, extruded, and stiffened panels into new products for ship decks, aerospace parts, bridges, heat exchangers, rail cars, and many other applications.

Linear Seam (LS)

LS Series systems can also be configured with a general-purpose work table that accepts custom welding fixtures for dual-sided welding of smaller components.

All of our standard welding systems are available with a long list of options and custom engineering to adapt systems to specific applications.

LS Series Basic Configuration

  • X-Axis
    Expandable fixed table, moving C-frame dual pinion driven, servo actuated, on precision ground rails.
  • Y-Axis
    Transversing spindle carriage, ball screw driven, servo actuated, on precision ground rails.
  • Z-Axis
    Forging bridge, ball screw driven, servo actuated on precision ground rails.

Tilt (B-Axis)
Spindle rotation about Y-Axis, servo driven ball screw or manually actuated on precision pivot pins. Available with a secondary lower weld head for simultaneous welding from top and bottom, beneficial for hollow web section extrusions containing two weld joints opposite each other.

Lower head is self-contained having its own four axis drives with tilt about the U axis

U-Axis
Servo drive rack and pinion riding on precision rails. Stroke matches X-Axis stoke of main machine.

V-Axis
Servo driven ball screw riding on precision linear rails.

W-Axis
Servo driven ball screw riding on precision linear rails.
