Bond Technologies CEO, Tim Haynie has been inducted into the Business Legacy Hall of Fame, receiving the Clarence C. Moore Recognition for Technology during Junior Achievement of Northern Indiana’s annual gala on November 15 in Elkhart, Ind.

Engineering Excellence

The award is named in honor of Clarence Cecil Moore, an Elkhart pastor, missionary, and pioneering electronics engineer in the early 20th century. Moore’s work advanced radio communication and helped establish the technical roots of the region’s early technology community. The recognition bearing his name honors individuals who exemplify engineering excellence, a lifelong love of learning, and a servant-leadership mentality.

This year, Tim was selected for the award in recognition of his long-standing contributions to advanced welding technology and his leadership at Bond Technologies. With more than 36 years of experience in designing and building complex Friction Stir Welding systems, Tim has played a key role in shaping how modern solid-state welding is applied in manufacturing.

He was the founder and President of Bond’s predecessor company, Transformation Technologies, Inc. (TTI), and then helped form Bond Technologies and continues to serve as CEO, guiding the company’s technical direction as well as its work in sales, new business development, finance, and legal operations. Tim is widely recognized as an expert in Friction Stir Welding equipment, known for helping companies understand how to successfully use the process for demanding applications. He was also an early supporter of Friction Extrusion, another emerging solid-state technology.

Developing Future Leaders in Engineering and Friction Stir Welding

In keeping with the spirit of the Clarence C. Moore award, Tim was honored not only for his technical expertise, but for the way he has built and led Bond Technologies. He has grown a company that successfully serves a highly specialized global customer base, and he is known for consistently acknowledging the Bond team as the source of the company’s success. Tim has also been a strong advocate for the development of young engineering professionals and has championed continued innovation within the region’s manufacturing and technology sectors.

Despite all his many successes, Tim says the thing he loves most is working closely with talented individuals and having even a small part in their personal and professional development.

The Business Legacy Hall of Fame event recognized eleven entrepreneurs and community leaders across multiple fields. More than 200 business owners and local leaders attended the gala hosted by Junior Achievement of Northern Indiana.

In a statement reflecting on this year’s honorees, Junior Achievement noted:
“Each one represents the very best of our community: humility, excellence, perseverance, and a commitment to lifting others up. Their stories inspire young people to own their future, lead with integrity, and make a lasting impact.”

Proceeds from the event support JA’s educational programs, including BizTown, a simulated town where students gain hands-on job experience, financial literacy skills, and insight into how local communities function.

Bond Technologies congratulates all 2025 honorees and thanks Junior Achievement for its continued commitment to preparing the next generation of leaders. We are proud to see Tim’s lifelong dedication to engineering innovation, mentorship, and servant leadership recognized with this honor.
